Overview

We are seeking a Technical Support Engineer with strong SQL expertise to join our Support team. This role involves troubleshooting complex issues, analyzing data, and working closely with development and product teams to resolve client-facing problems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Investigate and resolve technical support cases related to applications, databases, and integrations
  • Write and optimize SQL queries to analyze data, troubleshoot issues, and validate fixes
  • Work with cross-functional teams (Development, Product, Cloud) to identify root causes and implement solutions
  • Monitor system behavior and identify patterns or recurring issues
  • Assist in deployments, testing, and validation of fixes
  • Communicate clearly with internal teams and occasionally with clients on issue status and resolution
  • Document troubleshooting steps, solutions, and known issues

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong proficiency in SQL (queries, joins, subqueries, performance tuning)
  • Ability to read and understand stored procedures and database logic
  • Good understanding of relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, MySQL)
  • Experience in technical support, application support, or a similar role
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to debug issues using logs, database queries, and system behavior
  • Familiarity with APIs, integrations, or ETL processes is a plus
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada (Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or valid work permit holders).

Preferred

  • Experience with POS or retail systems
  • Previous development experience (backend or database-focused preferred)
  • Experience writing or modifying stored procedures, functions, or scripts
  • Experience with batch jobs, integrations, or ETL processes
  • Understanding of cloud environments (GCP preferred)
  • Experience with Power BI
  • Experience with Git / Bitbucket:
    • Understanding of branches (feature, release, buildfix)
    • Ability to review commits and follow basic version control workflows
